Hi all, the name is Ole Gunderson, but most often you'll see me going by the moniker of c44otg.  This is my first sojourn into the world of using a smoker.  Just built a Ugly Drum Smoker, brought it home on thursday.  A friend gave a bunch of 14" - 18" trout that i thought I'd use as my first smoking attempt.  Unfortunately, just after I got the smoker started, a thunder and lightning rain storm started and I chickened out and finished the fish on a gas grill that was in a covered area.  Here in this part of Utah, Heber City, it isn't unusual at this time of year to have these types of occurrences.  I look forward to getting use to my smoker and enjoying the fruits of my labor.

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.

Hi All,  Here's a follow-up to my original post.  I had much better success with some chicken thighs.  So, all is not lost, one thumbs up and ond thumbs down.  The UDS worked just like I was told it would so I'm not going to give up on it.  My daughter, her husband, my wife and three grandsons gave them the seal of approval.

Here are some pic's:
