Hello all! My name is Robert, I live in Paducah,Ky and I've been wanting a smoker for awhile now. I finally got one over the weekend. I didn't wanna drop a big chunk of money right out of the gate so I bought the Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker.

I'm a crane operator for a company that builds bridges here in Western, Ky. I work with some really good guys and, a few months back, a fellow worker started bringing these ribs in that were absolutely amazing. I mean, "Wow" amazing! I just had to figure out how he was pulling off such an incredible taste.

"Getchya a smoker man, you won't look back.."

First, I'll mention that I have zero grilling skills. But I bought some ribs yesterday and gave it a go. They ended up a bit dry but we still enjoyed them. Nothing like my friends ribs but he has much more experience than I. Me and my wife both enjoyed setting outside, getting to smell them cook.

Needless to say, I thought about it ALL day and that's how I've stumbled upon this site. I feel like I've got the bug and I can't wait to smoke more and more meats. The smell alone will almost bring tears to a mans eyes! Not because of the smoke gettin in them either. Looking forward to learning more and eating well!

the people on here are GREAT and more than willing to help another "smoker" out. lots of recipes. how to's and step by steps. the SEARCH is super easy to use and if you want you can PM anyone on here and they will point you in the right direction. there are the specialized GURUS on here too that are top drawer in some forms of the art, sausage, chicken, fatties ... etc

ENJOY ...

Thanks guys. I've been searching and you're right, pretty much all has already been answered a few different ways.
I wanted to skip work today to smoke some ribs again but the women of the house told me that wasn't happening....bummer

LOL Just like me Robert, before this forum, my BBQ experience was turning the grill up on high...tossing in a few burgers and dogs, and serve them up when they turned black!

This forum helped me out so much with real barbecue, you are going to have a blast!

Cheers

Hello Robert, and welcome from East Texas. I started out as a crane operator, my Dad was a crane operator and my #1 son who is the Safety man on Tyler Junior College Expansion just got his license to be a Tower Crane Operator.

This is a great site, lots of information and good people.
