I've had this Landmann 2-drawer 3405GLA propane smoker for 4 or 5 years. The regulator has always been a little sloppy in that it has a lot of play in it when turning the temp setting up or down and I can't tell whether I'm moving it in the slop range or when I'm actually changing the propane output. It feels the same and I have to make and adjustment, then check back after a few minutes to see if the smoker over/under responded or if I achieved the desired change in temperature. I causes me to keep checking it often and fiddling with it and not getting long periods of near-consistent heat output.

Any tips? Is there any adjustment in a regulator like this to clean up the slop? Sometimes I can hear the burner increase/decrease a little and sometimes not so can't rely on hearing to tell me when it responded.

Thanks!

Your problem is easy to solve.   I also have a Landman GOSM.   Simply put a needle valve between the tank regulator and the smoker.  Leave the temp control on the smoker on high when you fire it up and control the temp with the needle valve.   I find temp stability is extremely good and once I reach desired temp..........never have to touch it.

Good luck
