Its ok though cause its something he will never forget. I remember my first stolen drink from Pop, and the first time Pop took me to the camp were I was invited to join in with all the men. I think its one of those milestones folks always want to talk about, the opening of a new chapter in life.

LOL... you'll be an old man when you drink a beer with your grandson and he buys it!

Amen!  I can sorta recall standing on a stool or chair at the kitchen stove to help.  Confirming that later in life, my mother told me that I asked her for chocolate puddling one day.  This was in the early 50s before all the instant or ready-made junk, of course.  She told me if I would stir the milk while it heated, the stir after she added the other stuff, I could have some.  She didn't have to ask me twice!  There were other occasions where I helped in the kitchen, then started helping on the grill as a young teen.  I can't say I've never made a mess of a dish here and there, but I've never been afraid to try, thanks to mom for starters and then dad.
