Hi,

I plan to build a smoker house inspired by this project  and got a few questions about the right place to install it.

The winds blow usually in the direction of the back of my house and... those of my neighbours. If I build the smoke house in the backyard, what is a reasonable distance I should keep between the smoker and the house to avoid excessive nuisances for the people living near?

Caveat: I must admit that for now, I'm a beginner and I have no idea of the amount of smoke and its intensity a smoke house is producing...

regards,

Corbion

Your smoker should not be producing enough smoke, that the smoke itself would be bothering your neighbors. If so, then you are putting way too much smoke to your meat, and would need to do something about that. It shouldn't be puffing out white smoke like a chimney. Rembember, you want TBS (thin blue smoke).

No, your problem would most likely be nosy neighbors showing up looking for handouts.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick answer! And nice to learn that smoke shouldn't be a bothering problem. I really had no clue about that.

Hoping to start the build in a few week,...

I don't have a smokehouse, but I have a smoker, the only thing I get from the neighbors is " man that smells good, what are you smoking today" ?
