A Smokin Good Time

Last week I smoked some chicken leg quarters on my 13 year old weber silver grill.  They were wonderful.  A little dry but still very edible and tasty.  I found out my grill temp is about 40 degrees hotter than the dial reads.  Getting ready to order a remote grill and meat thermometer ... Maverick ET-733.  Hope that is a good reliable one.  And I'm headed to Home Depot this weekend to pick up their dual fuel Masterbuilt Smoker.  We live at 6500 ft elevation and it snows and rains a lot here in the White Mountains, Arizona.  Will this smoker hold up do ya think?  We use our grill all year round.  It sits on the back porch and is hooked up to the big propane tank.  Just turn the valve and I'm cookin.  I bake bread and deserts on it in the summer so I don't heat up the house.  Plan on using the smoker once a week all year round too.  Hopefully.

Can't wait to do some reading here and get lots of ideas.

thanks for letting me join in,

Welcome to the forum Thunder, I can tell you that for me the ET-733 is an awesome thermometer and is a must IMHO. As for your duel fuel Masterbuilt one of the other members will have to chime in. :)

You are gonna have a great time reading through the forum...massive amounts of info in here! Make sure you post details and pics of your own smokes, you will find that this really helps you get better and adjust your technique as well.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I smoked a chuck roast today and we had some of it for supper. That was the best roast we've ever had. I am so hooked on this. Wasn't dry at all. This grill is working so good I'm not sure I need a smoker. Just kidding. Forgot to take some pics. Will do it next batch.
I think I need a big drum full of wood now.yahoo.gif
