Smokin' for Tacos

Howdy! My wife and I are planning to serve tacos to a large group of folks and wanted to smoke the meat. Thinking of using Boston Butts unless there is something else that will work better. If there are any suggestions out there for a good rub or any other ideas that would help, send them on! Thanks!

I experimented a couple weeks ago, and took taco seasoning packets and tried to inject into a butt. I didn't realize there were so many chunks in those packets, so it was tough trying to not clog up the injection needle. It gave a pretty good flavor, but next time I'll try to mix up the spices myself and try to make it more fluid.

Don't forget shredded pork makes great carnitas too, or, if you don't want to do a long smoke,  beef and chicken fajitas.

Thanks for that idea! I haven't done any injecting yet, but I want to start. Maybe I'll give it a try!

I like your idea for shredded pork. I think that may be what we want in fact. Would your idea be to use a Butt and smoke it till it can be pulled? or would you use a different cut of pork?

Seven bone or Chuck roasts make great tacos too if you're looking for more options. Shred them up, oh yeah, picadillo!

We also like smoking and shredding chicken thighs.

Them there's smoked shrimp and fish tacos. Oh the list goes on!

Here's a link to one of my fish taco cooks:

Thanks for the idea and the link! Those fish tacos look great! My brother has a catfish farm in Walnut Hill, Fl so we have plenty of fish. We like fish tacos, too, but usually batter and fry. I definitely want to try them smoked...
