Hi everybody!

I'm Mike from Brooklyn, NY.  Been lurking here for a little while now and finally decided to join up and participate.

I started smoking a few years ago with a charcoal smoker I purchased from Lowe's.  Charcoal and I don't get along well, so I made the switch to a Masterbuilt electric, and I couldn't be happier.  It's like a big easy bake oven with the promise of delicious, smokey meat!

I've stuck to baby backs mostly, but have been experimenting with chicken and pork tenderloins.  In fact, I made four tenderloins for the 4th of July and they were fantastic.  I'd like to tackle a pork shoulder or a brisket by the end of the summer.  All I know is that I really enjoy smoking, and the people who eat what I've smoked are happy too.

Hello Mike, welcome from East Texas, If you have your ribs down, pork shoulder is a piece of cake, just takes a while, Look through the different forums and post lots of ideas and good information.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm doing 3 racks of baby backs tomorrow for a party that my fiancee and I are throwing for our bridal party.  I'm going to stick with the usual 2-2-1 method.  Can't really go wrong with that.  I'm using a modified version of a rub recipe I found online.  I also made a couple of sauces that I'm going to serve, one beer based and the other cola based.  I usually sauce during the last bit of smoking, but I'm probably going to serve these on the side so people can try both and decide what they like.

Speaking if fiancee, the old adage "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" applies to women as well.  I know my way around the kitchen, and I have a very happy soon-to-be wife because of it!
