reverse flow smoker heats uneven

built a reverse flow smoker this winter.  I have getting the temp even across the cooking chamber. I use a 150gallon propane tank, the side the heat rises on is 20 to 25 degrees hotter and have yet to figure out the answer

Do you have 2 air inlets on the FB.... One below the fire grate and one above the fire grate directly across from the FB/CC opening.... What calculator did you use..... Pics would help....

You will get a lot of different opinions on this so I'm going to offer mine as well. A 20 degree difference from port to starboard on a offset reverse flow is about normal in my experience. I'm sure that there are builders out there that can probably reduce this but again it's about normal on the ones that I have used. Now I have seen some offset pits that have been tuned with tuning plates and heat deflectors that will run very close to even but these were not reverse flow units as such. A lot of people prefer a hot and cooler side so you can speed up or slow down the cook without adjusting the dampers. I would not be concerned at all with a 20-25 degree split. I actually would use it to my advantage. Just my thoughts my friend.
