Rubbed it down last night with just a basic pork rub from kroger that I`ve used recently and liked, put it in fridge for the night. Got up at 7 this morning and got my el cheapo char-broil smoker going up to 250 and put the butt on. Didnt get any pics of the process but it took about 9 hrs and I used a combination of cherry and apple chunks, tasted pretty good but I wish I had some hickory, but I`m out right now lol. Left it unwrapped all the way to 203 and pulled it off and double wrapped it in foil and let it rest for little over an hour. Won the approval of my wife and little girl so it was a success lol.

Thanks for the compliments, it was very tasty but I think the best one I have done was a mix of hickory and apple. I want to try pecan but have not seen it anywhere around here, maybe I can find someone with a pecan tree lol

Looks good!     Love a little Hickory in my smokes. I'm starting to prefer Texas style smokes with Oak, Hickory, or Mesquite but with a little fruit wood mixed in and a few extra spices. I  like to call it Yankee Texas style.

I agree, I have been doing the same. Love hickory with a little cherry or apple mixed in to liven it up a little.
