Hey guys, i was pretty much sold on the Brinkman trailmaster vertical smoker but it seems like they are sold out online. Are there any other smokers you would recommend. I want the most area for smoking as possible, would like to feed a group of about 15(if possible).. and my budget is less than $300.

Hoping to find one in time for the 4th, thanks in advanced.
Matt

Depending on what you intend to feed this group of 15 an 18.5" Weber Smokey Mountain fits your budget at $299 and required few if any mods.  You could easily load it with enough chickens, pork shoulders, chuck roasts, or brisket to feed 15 people.  A big turkey would fit too.  Ribs would be tricky for a group that size unless you used a couple rib racks and trimmed them a little.

The Brinkman vertical is probably the right smoker for you but the WSM would work too.

Thanks guys, what kind of mods for the char broil? And is it pretty good quality? I like the WSM as well, but i do like to do ribs. So not sure its right for me.

you can do a heck of a lot of ribs in A WSM like this. I would go with the quality of Weber. As I have for years and years. I love my Webers.

I wish I could take credit but I found the idea online somewhere. I think one time I got 16 racks of ribs in my UDS with room to spare. Well I do have two levels of grill grates in there.

Thats a GREAT idea. Thanks for your input guys, really helpfull. I guess i just have to decide on the Briniman vertical or the WSM. Does anyone know of a store that would have either of these in stock and maybe even diplayed? Might help make my decision easier.

Ok i found a tractor supply store that has a brinkman vertical in stock.. i have more question(hopefully last [emoji]128512[/emoji]), thanks for your patience. If i buy the brinkman, i would like to do the gasket kit too, more than likely i wouodnt get the kit in time for the 4th. Would i be able to assemble the smoker, use it for the 4th, and then when i get the kit, disassemble and install the kit? Would that work? Or is it best to install the kit before using it at all?

If you get much salt air there you will totally want a weber. the enamel coating is the bomb. I see you are inland a bit but on the west slope of the mountains. Something to consider. No I don't work for Weber or anything, but I am sold on the quality and use it right out of the box without any mods. I have a WSM and A performer and A 27 year old Weber propane grill that I can still get parts for. I am sold.

Yeah Timber, i agree. LOVE weber products. Where I live there is no worries of or salt any thing like that. We are pretty much desert out here. Im just trying to get all the information I can, so when i get off work I can go shop around and have the pros and cons of either. I miss the old days where you could see what you buy before you buy.. lol

I am new to smoking, been using a small char broil I nabbed from my sisters ex. Anything i get will be better than what i got.

They should have display models I would think. Home depot is where I got mine and the only smokers on display were Weber. I actually built a UDS before I got the cash together for the WSM and it is still working great. It is a toss up what smoker to use nowadays. I live alone so most of the time I just fire up the kettle. Unless I am doing a bunch of meat for the family on a special occasion or something. Like right now. moink balls and ABT's with an ear of corn for the ball game. I envy you for getting to go shopping for new gear.

Thanks, i really appreciate the help. On my way out, hopefully someone had something otherwise its just plain old fashioned burgers and dogs for the 4th. :-/

Looks good, I love burgers and hotdogs but was really looking forward to some ribs. Well, Tractor Supply had the Brinkman Trailmaster Vertical in stock, even had it put together already. Bigger than I expected.. I like it.. so i bought it. Even came with a cover. Thanks to all your guys for the help!!! I will post some pictures of my first smoke, let you guys know how it went.
