I love what you've done with your mini! It took me forever trying to figure out how to get one pot and there is no way I'm cutting my baby up!!! Lol

I hope to upgrade my phone tomorrow so I can post some pics of my new toy...

Btw, next time you're on vacation in Hawaii try to pick a decent island!
I lived in Waimea, and for one summer spent my days building a deck up above Kona in Hōlualoa. Good times except the 60 mile commute each way everyday on Mamalahoa HWY!

Case, I like the idea of being able to get the door completely out of the way.
Good job!

Thanks Dutch. I originally wanted to hinge it. But the more I looked at it and the complications of the convex surface I decided that the two latches would provide a better seal. And like you said it gets the thing completely out of the way! I will be able to put the whole mess to the test in a couple weeks as my boys and I are going to the Toledo Oregon Wooden Boat Festival. Four nights of camping. I know the boys will want pizza, and I'll want tri tip, chicken wings, smoked chops, ABT's pork shots... I like to eat good when I go camping! Funny thing, right across from the camp area at the show is a BBQ joint called Pigs and Feathers!

After your camping trip when you've put yours through the paces and have a complete evaluation I'll know if it keeps good heat with the cut out

I've already tested it without a gasket and it holds temp just fine. Once I install the gasket it will be just like a pot with out a door in it!

What's up with you living in towns named Waimea? Next thing youre gonna tell me is you used to live on the north shore of O'ahu! ;)

I live four miles north of Holualoa and drive a couple of times a week to Waimea for school events. You've driven by my home many times!

Back in 08-09 when the housing market crashed here I took a job as a superintendent with a friends construction company there.

I would've stayed but the work was drying up there and my job back here in Oregon was picking back up. I'll be back though and I'm bringing my mini's with me!
