MIKEPLS:

Hey, my kids gave me a Masterbuilt wide gas vertical smoker for Fathers Day. Used it last weekend and I never got raves like this before about my grilling. A few questions, is it normal for the wood chips to burn off in less than an hour? I did pucahse a stanless steel chip box to see if the burn was slower but it didn't seem to help cooking at 225 to 250

I have the same smoker. My chips and or chunks would be gone in literally ten minutes when I first used it.

Buy a 10" cast iron skillet. Place your chips in there and place the skillet on top of the old, flimsy chip pan. It makes a world of difference. Your wood won't immediately burst into flames and the smoke will last about an hour longer.
