Needle valve fitting issue (Smoke Hollow 38208G)

When I bought my 38208G, I went ahead and bought a preassembled Bayou Classic 0-30 PSI Adjustible Regulator/Hose Assembly (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007PS0938/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), which has/a 3/8" inner diameter female fitting at the burner end. Apparently that's their standard fitting.

However, the Smoke Hollow has a visibly smaller fitting (1/2"? I didn't take it off) where the gas line connects to the burner control.

Is this something that's fixable or do I start over?

Take accurate measurements then run to a hardware store or big box like Home Depot and find a step down fitting to connect the two.
