Just bought a Master Forge smoker this weekend. I added 3-3/4" conduit nipples to the bottom tray with caps if/when needed. I also added a 3/4" nipple to the lid with cap. I will be modding the fire tray with a Weber 7440 grate for better removal of ash and better airflow.

I did an initial burn with kingsford blue. Built in lid thermo peaked at 300 while a thermo hanging from the top rack showed 275-280 in the center.

I have hickory chunk(lowes), mesquite chip(hd), and Apple chip(hd) waiting. I'm excited to try my first real smoke this weekend.

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have, and pictures help a bunch.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  Check out Jeff’s 5 day smoking E-Course ( link below ) that will help you get started.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

I'm a Nana of one 6 yr old and 2 Frenchies and a Boston. I live in Nebraska which is truly the good life. Soooooo...I have watched my son fall down the rabbit hole that is the smoking addiction, and quickly added it to my bucket list. My giant freezer is filled and ready for the fun to start. I look forward to starting the journey with tasty little piggies and all of their little barnyard friends! If I'm lucky enough to find someone to take me on a turkey hunt, then I'll smoke that too!!! Bacon wrapped jalapeño peppers stuffed with cheese and a water chestnut will be on the first menu. Let the smoking begin!

Hey Steve, congrats on the new smoker, post some pictures

These are the pics as requested. I'm doing a test burn now. The temps shown are with some fire pan Mods. I just expanded the vent holes a little more. These temps are with all of the mod vents just capped. After waiting, the temps dropped to 275 top, 250 inside
