Help labeling wood splits

So just got my order in from Fruita, and I have 4 varieties. I have a small fridge only for wood that keeps it a little cold. So could I take a sharpie marker and put a dot on each end and then make a legend,,,,I'm talking a dot the size of a pea..or I could use a pencil to abbreviate CR -cherry, PE- peach, etc


Any advice is appreciated as using bags to put them in won't fit that well...


Would putting a tiny dot effect the wood, taste, etc
