Black flakes/peeling inside lid and cc I think its the mill slag letting go now that there has been a few heat cycles I guess ill just wire brush whats loose and keep on cooking.
Knock the loose crud off of it, spray with cooking oil to inhibit rust, and get some smoke rolling across it with heat...good to go...may as well drop some meat on the grate at that point, too...
