Coumostan (NY)
As stated above I unfortunately live in Coumostan where it seems like everything fun is illegal. They are now trying to ban wood burning in fireplaces and wood stoves . I need to get a smoker built soon so I can relax. My Charbroil died and instead of buying another I have decided to build one. I have a new 60 gallon propane tank I decided to make a vertical unit out of. After finishing what I thought was a nice smoker I found that the propane burner will not work well in something this big. So back to the drawing board. With all of the grease dripping down I end up with black food that really does not taste that good.

They will apparently be after us soon.

So far, even here in Taxifornia, cooking devices are excluded from the mandated "no burn days".

Unfortunately, many apartment dwellers are already limited in options due to "fire danger".

Keep your seat belt on.  Even the carbon taxes coming on line will increase our prices for everything we buy.

Good luck and good smoking.

Thanks Gary.  I am looking for all the info I can get on building my own smoker.  My little Charbroil finally died and instead of purchasing I thought I could build a new one and use some of the salvaged parts.  NOT as easy as it may seem.  I will research some ideas here and see what I can do.  And CONGRATS for living in a FREE state.
