I just started smoking in the last few months. I did my first full packer brisket last month on a gas grill and transferred it to the oven after a few hours on the grill. Did ribs and chicken yesterday, too. It's an addiction for sure. I picked up a Weber kettle 22" on Craigslist a few weeks ago for $20 and did a DIY smoker mod. This mod is due to my reluctance to spend $75 on the Smokenator. I'll post a new thread showing pics of my DIY smokenator setup that I made for about $6. Giant bags of mesquite lump are available in this part of the world for cheap, so I've been using it exclusively, however I find it difficult to control temperature with mesquite. I look forward to sharing the science and art of smoking with y'all.
