Hey fellow smokers....Recently sold one house and bought another...LOTS of Maple around here as you can see in the pics.
Question - the red one that looks like a huge bush is a Japanese Maple (per the former homeowner). It has been maintained as a bush and has a pretty thick trunk/structure; not sure if this could be transplanted by an interested parry due to proximity to driveway/sidewalk.
The mayor/judge/police captain/jury/ordinance officer and code inspector at my house doesn't like it and I'm not crazy about it because I hate trimming bushes.
So the question are- can this be cut, dried, and used in the smoker? Are these a sweeter flavor like other maples?
I've come across very little info on this, especially about flavor.
