Just stopping in to say hello
I'm new here. Graduate of the Great Lakes Culinary Institute up in Traverse City learning to cook on a stick burner with a BTLE if all goes well I have plans to build a smoker with my father and eventually set up shop some time down the line. Anyway just wanted to say hello.

Here is my smoker I have all done all the basic mod.
My first cook pulled pork and smoked beans!

Second cook beef back ribs

If it doesn't rain everyday this weekend I've got a chicken to smoke!

Welcome to the group Marlboro!

Aren't new smoker great?  They are so nice and shiny!  I know the feeling well.

Got mine (char-griller) at end of summer last year.  Used it a few times, then covered for winter with tarp.

Was so proud of how it looked this spring when I took the tarp off it, cleaned it up and re-seasoned.  Still nice and spiffy!

But... I bet this is the last year it will look this way.  LOL

One thing I do, is use peanut oil to wipe it down on outside after every smoke while it is still warm, including the fire box.  (especially the sfb)

Nice looking beef ribs there with good ring on them.  I want to try these if I can ever find a source for them near me.

Glad you joined the Michigan group Matthew.  Nice smoker you got there and with your training we will be watching for smoked goodness from you.  The beef ribs look great.

Dang Matthew, those ribs looks phenomenal.

Also it's kool to see more representation from the thumb area. My dad's side of the family is from the Harbor Beach area so we're up that way a lot.

Good luck with the build and the BBQ joint.
