I've always been hesitant to try a Smoke Daddy in my Rec Tec because I'm not crazy about drilling a hole in my pit.  This is one reason I've always used the Amaz-n Tube in mine, and I think it works very well.

Plus I've read of others having issues with creosote buildup and a short smoke cycle with Smoke Daddy.

You also must consider that way a pellet unit operates. The combustion fan causes a positive air pressure in the body of the unit which the air pump on the smoke device must overcome. At times they don't work well unless you plumb the air intake for the unit to use air from inside the body of the pellet grill, or get a much stronger air pump. If you grill has a fan that is not always "on" there can then be other issues setting the air pressure on the smoke generator.

Did you put it on yet?  I just bought a 2 Star and have the same question.

I had it on my Traeger before and it worked great!  You just have to follow the directions and use some lump charcoal to keep it burning hot and clean it out occasionally.  i have had no problems.

I just want to make sure I do the right the first time before i start drilling a hole!

The 2 star has a perfect place for one. There's a Utube video if you search. So far it doesn't look like any one put one on a one star yet.

Phrett,

I talked to Denis at Smoke Daddy and he had the same thoughts.

So to plum an air intake I would have to drill another hole in the grill and a hole in the Smoke Daddy an run a hose line from the grill to the Smoke Daddy so it gets air from inside the grill?

Does that sound correct?

I know this thread is a little old. Just wondering if anyone has put a smoke daddy on their pellet pooper yet and what was involved in doing so?
