Has anyone used the mailbox mod successfully on a MES40 without removing the wood chip assembly completely?  I ask because I am considering doing this project but I want to leave the assembly installed because I sometimes like to use the wood chip drawer instead of my AMNPS for short smokes or when I want to use some specialty wood chips. All the project pictures I found on this forum so far show either the assembly removed completely or do not indicate whether the complete assembly or the chip drawer was removed.

I thought I would ask before going through the trouble of doing this project only to find that there is insufficient air flow without the assembly completely removed. Perhaps removing just the chip drawer would allow sufficient air flow.  My MES40 has the vent on the top.

I have the gen 1 40" and didn't remove the chip loader. Works like a champ. Although, I experimented trying for better air flow when I first got the dust burner.I cut out a big ole hole in the side of the enclosure. This is where the smoke flows when using the mailbox.
