Im sure someone has tried smoking with walnut.  If so, how is it?  I have nearly unlimited supply of walnut trees on my property and was wondering.

Thanks!!!!  Very good to know.  Would hate to ruin a cook with something bitter.

I've never used it, oak is as strong as I want, and even that in small quantities. I usually use apple or hickory or maple, sometimes mesquite.

But that long list from Dutch doesn't mention railroad ties. Now there's some long-burning wood! Just have to pull the spikes and hook up a come-along to winch them out from under the rails

sell them, walnut by the board foot.........you can then afford to go out and get a new truck!!!!! probably pay cash!!!!!!
