My name is Bret, from Folsom, CA. I have always had grills (propane or NG) and grill several times a week. Time to venture into real BBQ, so got a Masterbuilt duel fuel for my first smoker. We'll see how it goes!

Thanks Gary. I will be putting on a tri tip shortly for tonight's dinner. I will post more qviews later, but here it is prior to going in the Masterbuilt.
Looks good..... If you are like me - you will love the MB Dual fuel. I made a couple of mods to mine..... But even with my lack of skills in the engineering and construction department I think that everything came out well. :yahoo:
I will be making a couple mods, seal the doors up at least. I like having the option to use charcoal, I'm using very little propane. I have been using some Royal Oak lump charcoal and used a couple of oak chunks for smoke. It holds the temp right at 225. Here is the final product. Not bad for my first tri tip and only second time smoking on the MB.
I did not mess with the door at all. I created a wind guard around the bottom, I added the fold down shelf on the left side, I took out the fire pan and replaced with a low profile cast iron skillet. I took out the water pan and replaced with a baking pan that slides perfectly into the rack guides. And lastly I took a couple of brass water fittings and drilled a hole in the back of the box.... This allowed me to put both the Maverick Temp probes thru the fittings and no longer have to shut the door on the cables. Those were easy even for me. (GRIN).
