New Smoker in GR, MI

I just signed up and got started in the E-Class.

My wife gave me one of those Cabela's Smoker/Griller/Fryer things for Christmas and I haven't even fired it up for the "factory grease burn off" session, yet. So, I am pretty new. However, I do have 3 suckers from this spring and a couple of salmon from last year in the freezer waiting for the trial run. 


I look forward to learning a bunch from you guys here.

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Yeah, smoked salmon! Look at the price they're asking for it in the store. Then pay a fraction of that for fresh, and fire up the smoker.

Thanks, Stan. I just joined the Michigan group.

I think we have a family shindig on 7/19. I will probably inflict some smoked meat experiments on them, though.
