stuffer issue

I bought a 5 liter Smokehouse Chef vertical stuffer back in February or March. I have used it a few times now and I am having meat making it over the seal in the plunger. The seal is NOT an o-ring. This seal is open on one side and facing up. Should I get an o-ring for a seal?

The opening of the seal should be facing down.

yeahthat.gif open side facing the meat.... the pressure from the meat causes the seal to flare outward creating the seal....

It came facing up so I assumed that's how it went. Thanks for the heads up.
