Maverick Failing?

Thread Starter

Did a brisket in my WSM over the weekend.  20.5 hours i spent with that stubborn steer.

It was more complicated because i believe that my Maverick thermo is failing.

The meat probe started off with an LLL which the manual says is ether in need of a reset or that it is shorted or shorting.

I took the probe out and let it come to room temperature as the instructions said.  Then I put it back in.  It seemed to work for a while, but then started bouncing up and down 2 to 10 degrees.

I also think the BBQ probe may be off a bit as well.

Can I get replacement probes?  Do I need a new thermometer? This maverick only lasted me about 4 years is there a brand that lasts longer, assuming it is the thermometer AND the probes that are failing?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

If the unit is not very old, I'd contact Maverick customer service.  There are many stories of them sending out replacement probes for a unit that is not very old.

Todd (at A=MAZ-N PRODUCTS INC.  http://www.amazenproducts.com/Default.asp ) sells replacement probes.  You can also often find probes with longer wires there as well.

Called Maverick.  No go on replacements for free.

Will purchase from Amazon as was suggested by NivekD.

Just hope the problem truly is the probes and not the thermometer itself.

Thanks All!

Hi bbqequipmentstore, at times has Maverick probes for $6.99+ shipping. Give them a look and see.
