Hello from North Carolina

Thread Starter

I just bought the Char-Grill with side firebox from Lowes. I have never smoked any meat, so a lot to learn.

I am disappointed with the fit of the side firebox lid.

Welcome to the forum

Many of the big box store smokers are good first smokers.  They are not perfect or made with heavy materials but they are very functional and great tools to learn on.

Once you decide that sitting around the smoker cooking great food is more then a passing interest you can invest in better equipment.  By then you'll have enough experience that you'll know what you want.

Good luck

Welcome to the Forum!! You came to the right place to learn the great art of smoking....lots of great folks here ready to help ya.  Sorry you are disappointed with your new smoker, but don't let it is discourage you. Most everyone here began on some sort of 'beginner' model, and it will at least let you know if you want to move up later, and let you work on different techniques and methods. You'll be surprised what good smokes you can get out of the lower end smokers also !

Good morning and welcome to SMF glad you joined us, you may can play with the door a little and tweak it for a little better fit. After you get it seasoned up and ready to go, be sure and post some pictures of your smoker and what you are smoking.
