Any thoughts on the best shears to cut chicken? The Wusthof Poultry Shears at $80 got mixed reviews on Amazon. Thanks in advance.

I split chickens weekly, don't use a good knife its hard on a blade. Just get a cheap forged steel Chicago cutlery knife so you don't cry about your good knives. If you get poultry shears make sure the handle ends are long so you can get good leverage. Short blades are no problem but short handles will work you to death.

Check out your local restaurant supply store.

I got a heavy duty pair for about $20.

Good luck and good smoking.

A knife will not work if you have to cut a roasted chicken on the dinning table.

Get a good one that is dishwasher safe.

I always had used a 12" chefs knife or Chinese style cleaver until I broke down and looked on Amazon. OXO's stainless steel poultry shears. Easily come apart for cleaning and much easier on my hands. Chickens look much better, less jagged and no shards. Also safer on the hacker upper of said birds....just sayin'. Oh, on sale was about 12 bucks

Hello , Prudentsmoker.  I see your Scizzor  predicament and offer a bit of info. on 'good' sturdy Shears... go to a EMS supply store (or ask a EMS ) near you and get some for  ~ $10 bucks. , these will last a good while for you...not as pretty but th_dunno-1[1].gif.

Have fun and . . .
