About Me

Thread Starter

A little about me-I am 52 years old and have spent my life smoking meats the traditional way using wood I cut and cure  and split myself here ( Mesquite-Pecan -Apricot and Shinery Oak)

I also dry age some cuts off meat like Sirloin or Rib Eye Loins using Dry Age bags

I have lots of pride in my ribs and briskets- I am ready to go electric to free up my time while I have things smoking and I am here because of the great reviews so many have shared here on the electric smokers

texas.gifHello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.  WOW pretty neat

Hi Derrick and welcome aboard!  You've found a great, friendly place to share ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  We enjoy helping and encouraging each other, so just ask if you ever need anything...someone here will come through with an answer.

Well welcome on over here. I been all electric for bbq for quite a while now. Its the only way to fly in my view.  Sure beats trying to lug all that nasty old charcoal around. Have you got one yet?

Hello Big Wheel
Still shopping but about to go with "Smokin It model. 3 with PID controller- I have never been big on charcoal and will continue to use my own woods - just need to cut it a little smaller. :) I cook out year round here and spend 2 months in the summer at local lakes camping with the 5 the wheel with wife and my boys- need to free up more time for fishing and power naps- always a electric hook up where we camp so electric seems logical

Hear you on that Brother..they prob got heavy duty circuit breakers and stuff like that. Let them pay the electric bill blah blah blah. Smart thinking.  Seems like I heard on another thread you had snagged a fancy Cook Shack. Great choice might I add. Let us know how it works so will know whether or not to get one too.

Welcome from Canada. canada-flag-14.gif

It will be good to have another experienced smoker on the forums to learn from.

I look forward to your posts.
