Thread Starter

Been smokin for a while, found this site while searching for some parts for my old 'Sausage Maker' electric smoker.  Have used the old porcelain lined fridge for years and agree with a number of you on this site on it's usefulness.  My old 'Sausage Maker' was purchased new from the original owner in New York about twenty years ago.  It's small but works good for smaller smoking jobs.  I need to find a reliable electric heating element and controller.  I like to use a cast iron skillet to burn my wood chips.  The hardware store 1000W hot plates don't fair too well.  If anyone reading this could be of some help, I'd sincerely appreciate it.  Right now I've got some fresh Steelhead that needs to get smoked.  The Springer's should start running soon so I need to get the ol'smoker up and running.

texas.gifHello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.

Welcome! There are quite a few threads here on replacement elements and PID controllers. The search feature here works great. I have a 1500 watt replacement element from brinkman that I plan on installing a all home built smoker. My goal is to achieve at least 200 but no more. This smoker will be insulated and used exclusively for sausage and jerky so lower temps is all I will need.

Good luck with your search.
