Hi all in the SMF NATION!!!
Just a little background on my self:
I'm Georgia bread and born, proud southerner, and rabid Georgia Bulldog fan ( going on 14 years of being a season ticket holder, haven't missed a home game in Athens since I started !!)
Being from the South, BBQ is just a way of life and I love it..Had an opportunity to learn from a neighbor that competed in local GA competitions and I've been hooked ever since!!!!
I've been smoking & grill anything from Pork butt, ribs, turkey each T-day, steaks , fish an whatever else I can convince the wide to give me an excuse to grill or smoke some meat!
I've had decent success and most important I have a blast doing it!!
I've been using the ole common Chargriller smoker w/ side firebox but it finely had its day!! Reading this site is what lead to my desire to start researching a new smoker but knew I needed to be able to grill things as well. Looked at a lot of higher end grills like Lang, Gator, and others but when I got the slap of the $ that comes with those higher end grills , I knew I had to do some research and find something in between to be less impact to the ole wallet ..
I ended up getting a Oklahoma Joe Longhorn simply due to the amount of info/mods/feedback on this website and after market product support for this grill due to its popularity and price range. I plan on doing a full review and pics of my mods here soon.
I want to give special thanks to hardrockchina & Ski-Freak due to the detail reviews/posts& pics of their mods.
This site seems to be a great resource and knowledge base. I look forward to posting and maybe I can help someone like the members of this forum helped me just by reading !!
