I do want to point out that you did slice with the grain, and you want to slice against the grain. :icon_rolleyes:

Of course the flavor remains the same you just get a bit more chew to the meat. Try slicing this way next time and I think you will be much happier, if that is possible(which I know it is because I love me some Tri-tip). Cut the red line, and slice the blue lines. There, I just gave you an excuse to have to cook another one. :icon_twisted:

Carlos

I've been grilling tri tips for 30 years and have never paid attention to the split grain. Never was a problem, but now I'm eager to slice my next one.

I cooked them for a few years before paying attention to the grain direction while slicing. So fwiw the grain is not a deal breaker. Good luck and let me know if you notice a difference.

The grain can be very tricky on these .... Guess it matters on the individual cut.. WHB

Thanks again to all for the help and suggestions... For first TT, I think overall it turned out pretty decent. Like I said before, I now know the craze over TT's and will be doing more of these without a doubt. I had a lot of fun.... yahoo.gif Justin (WHB)
