I was awoke at 4:30 am this morning with the power out and trees coming down.  It's bad outside right now. Big tree split across the street from me.

I will be using the chainsaw today for sure.

I hope everything is ok for you. And hope you get some good smoking woods

It is a merry Christmas today I just got my power back on.  After 4 days with no heat the house is a cold 42* but the furnace is on.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone.

There is still a ½ inch of ice on everything and the trees are just waiting to break.  So far Sliver maples and white pines are mostly on the ground.

The city had 30,000 out Sunday and said all will be back on today and by gum they did it.

I don’t know how long it will stay on the neighbor had her meter ripped off the house and is on the ground. It’s connected to the same pole my house is.  And there are 5-6 limbs from the pine on my wires pole to pole still.

Stan Im glad to hear that things are ok there and really happy that you got power back.

Thank you Brian,  My street is still out of power from my house down to the end.  I get my power from a different street.  I have been helping as many neighbors as I can.  It is still a mess and the trees have not lost any of the ice yet.  We are a wind or snow storm away from this happening again.  I have lived here for 36 years and have only lost power three times and never over 8 hrs.  The wife says I must buy a generator.

Lets hope the storms hold off for a while so that they can get all the repairs done.

Generators are great but I have found since I got mine I haven't needed it but its nice peace of mind having it.

Day 6 and still no power on my street.  I feel so bad for my neighbors.  Thought I would put some pics up.

Tree across the street.

The majestic white pine that if you look at the pile of branches between the tree and the playhouse on the ground.  They are all leaning on my power lines.

Pretty ugly tree now.

My black cherry tree.  It held up well.

Cherry bushes.

I love Michigan weather.

Ice storms are no joke but provide some awesome views. Hopefully your neighbors get power soon.

Glad everyone is safe also, only lost power for about 15 min.s but just finished clearing the driveway to arms are about to fall off. We got dumped on pretty good they are saying 36"s and now  its warming up for the next couple of days sounds like its going to b a mess.

Glad to hear you survived the storm. Our power was out for about 26 hours. Not to bad and really did not slow us down much.
Thanks KFC,  Glad everything is ok with you.

Thanks Joe,  We only have like 4 inch's of snow.  36 is a lot good luck with that.

The views first light in the morning were exquisite.  The light coming through the ice laden trees was something.  GOOD NEWS it got to 37 and sunny here today and the ice is almost gone.  I am not afraid of the trees any more.

Hey stan, did you get everything cleaned up? The warmer weather we had the last two days (ok 38 isn't "warm" but you know what I mean) must have helped. I was at my sisters house in Grand Blanc on Christmas day and the whole ride up I-75 was awesome. The trees looked like they had been repeatedly dipped in water then frozen! It was an ice wonderland!

You're right about the danger of a windstorm. If we had gotten a gusty storm, it would have leveled most of the trees across the midsection of lower Michigan.

Happy New Year Kurt,  I cut and chipped a lot of wood but none of it at my house.  LOL  I still have limbs in the yard but nothing serious.  I ran 6 tanks of gas through my chainsaw helping neighbors that had real problems.  The guy next to a rental I have lost a huge limb that covered his deck and blocked the back door and the lady across the street had limbs down everywhere.  What damage I have can wait till spring to clean up if we don't get another warm spell.  There are still 1100 in Lansing with no power.  Glad I got mine back.  You know you are invited to the cheese smoke and I will start a thread for it to figure out what and when.

Only got about a foot here and not too much in drifting but the wife said the roads going to and coming back to work today were just ice. Just my luck the city starts plowing on the north side.  Out of the 30 sections they plow I live in 28 so my road has not been plowed yet.  But all is good it has been fun seeing the stupid people getting stuck.  Someone in a pickup dropped his plow and ran down the street dumping his plow in the middle of the street so there is one clear path and most of the home owners on the street have cleaned there drives to the clear path so when two cars going different directions meet then it just makes sense for one to pull in a drive and let the other drive by but not in this town just about every time it’s a faceoff with one chickening out and driving into the bank of snow and getting stuck.  It’s too funny.
