Hello from the backwoods of Upstate New York

There are a few things that I define as the Good Life: Playing the bagpipes, smoking cigars, sipping moonshine, and BBQing.

I find great satisfaction building an apple wood fire in my professional Char-Griller in the morning and smoking ribs, chicken, sausage, and brisket all day while enjoying the sweet leathery taste of a fine cigar and the buttery taste of fine corn whiskey. All the while looking out in my back yard and smelling the freshly mowed alfalfa as it cuts through the wood smoke as a breeze blows by.

There's a unique pleasure of bringing to the table a banquet that takes all day to prepare; a meal that you anticipated perhaps for a couple of days. Cutting the wood blocks, picking out the right chicken, butchering your own meat, and finally bringing it to the family with wide eyes and watered mouths.

This is what I enjoy; this is my Good Life. I'd rather put my time and effort in this endeavor than in fine watches or fast cars. Simple living on the farm.

Welcome aboard! Glad you joined our group. You'll like it's the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc. Looking forward to your input, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will likely have the answer.
