I'm a little late to the "Apple Butter" party.....  Computer failure and a new Win. 8 POS that took forever to learn....  Still learning.....  and then my camera software was not compatible with Win 8.....  New camera that the old card fit in so I could transfer the pics......   both were Fujifilm $60 cheapies from w-m....

6.5#'s mix of apples cooked down in the slow cooker....   This stuff is awesome....  Thanks to all who posted their recipe.....

We have one of those motor boat things that made pureeing easy....  cores, skins and all...  seeds were removed.... No pectin necessary when the whole apple is used.... or so it said in fine print...  As always, click on pics to enlarge....

2 batches were cooked...

The 13+ pounds of apples made 20, 1/2 pints

Reducing to a thicker paste consistency....

The whole process, in the slow cooker, took 24 hours...

The darker AB on the left is due to trying brown sugar in the recipe....

Adds a distinct flavor that is more pleasing to our palate...

The white stuff on the jars is residue from our HARD water....  LOL

Watch for pear jelly next year....

WC, morning.....  Thanks....  It is really good.....  Now if I could make some English muffins....  Tried but failed....
