Hello everyone,

Its been a couple years since I've really been on here, but I finally am able to get started on a smoker build. I actually live in Maryland, but I frequent Virginia, AT LEAST one weekend a month. I moved to Southern MD from Newport News and I go back for my Guard duty with the Va. Air Nat'l Guard at Langley, where I was active duty as well. Anyhow, to my issue. I'm finding it hard to find large propane tanks to cut up for a smoker. I'm thing in the 150# range. Does anyone have suggestions? I've asked the local propane suppliers and they all say they cant sell me an old one because of liability. Craigslist is hit or miss and usually if I find one in the 150# range, they want an arm and a leg for it. Honestly, I dont care if it has a rusted hole in it or whatever... I just want to find a tank!

On another note, does someone have another suggestion to use instead of a propane tank?

Thanks ya'll,

Chris

Chris, check with your local plumbers or well drillers to find an old pressure tank.  Just make sure it's not galvanized.
