I have used a charbroil grill with offset smoker box for about 10 years with great success for turkeys, briskets, pork shoulders, and ribs. I have not really tried smoking anything else. It finally rusted out and I just bought a first generation 40" MES and used it for our Thanksgiving turkey. The turkey turned out great, although I am not real impressed with constantly having to load the chip tray so I ordered the 5"X8" AMNPS box today and some pellets to take advantage of the black Friday sale. Can't wait to try that tray. Catch you all later.
