I bought a pitmaster IQ a bit ago. I usually smoke about once a month or maybe, every 6 weeks. I think I have used this thing three, maybe 4 times.  Anyway, I have just about had it! Every time I have tired to use it, the thing goes through it's start up process, then starts the red/green flashing and does nothing else. This is the lid off alarm. but, the lid is NOT off and I cannot find any way or reason why this would be. I know it also means that the temp probe is somehow damaged. if that is so, that means the probe they shipped me was defective. My biggest problem with contacting them is, I usually cook on weekends (and now, on Thursday) so, once the work week begins, I have to remind myself to call them. Believe me, I WILL be calling them on Monday. at this point, I am becoming angry!

I have searched online, tried everything I can find to solve this problem. I'll call them on Monday. if their only solution is to have me buy another temp probe, we are going to have some significant problems.

Has anyone else had this happen?  I thought, at one time, perhaps the temp probe NEEDED to be put in the grill before the temp was increased to cooking temp. I usually put everything together and then, the last thing I put in my smoker is the temp controllers.  Either way, here I am on Thanksgiving, cursing my 'set it and forget it' grill controller. this is ridiculous!

Does anyone have any other ideas? for now, I am using the hose from the controller and using my hair dryer to bring up my temp. seems to be working nicely for the moment.

Thanks, guys!
