Thanks...I've been watching and subscribed to your builds for a bit...so can give some credit to you for inspiration as well.

Ok,,,so here's some pics from this weekend. Only got to work a few hours on Saturday between son's football game and other tasks, but still....any time spent on bbq is not wasted. Here we go...

Shane working on cutting out the door. I know it seems like he's doing all the work...Lol...but really folks...I do help. Someone's gotta take the pics too, right? Seriously...this day, I handled mostly the welding and he did the cutting....as you can see on the left side of the tank, my torching skills were not up to task saturday for some reason. Just couldn't keep steady. Oh, well. Got it together by the time we welded.

Child labor is not beyond me. Lol. As I said earlier....building a smoker, and BBQ in general is an awesome way to spend time with the kids. We had a blast until he got too tired (see below). Had a great football game that morning... heck of a defensive lineman!!.

Gotta have eye protection.

Look over after doing some grinding...and he's out cold.

He told me later that he smartly turned his head so it looked like he was still watching. Lol.

So, anyway, got the door cut out, and the hinges reinforced. Now, to deal with the bottom part of the door curling inward a little. Hopefully, this week I'll get the metal to do the FB and make even more progress.

I like the single door.  It looks like you could put a small pig in there on a spit.  Or maybe just a couple of piglets.  Or maybe just a puppy.  OH NO I can't believe I said that.

Thanks, PappaJ. We took a long time deciding single or double..weighing pros and cons, and finally the whole hog idea is was topped it off and made the deciding factor. Lol. Didn't consider the puppy, but my dry rub might just taste........NoW you got me saying that. haha

Looking good keep those pictures coming

King Salmon...I was there for 4 months when we mothballed the place. Just thing of all the Caribou back straps you could have gotten in your new smoker. We flew ourt on a C130 and was able to take our Bows and we brought back 10 on the USAFs dime. My son is a Heavy Equipment Operator and will be in Naknek next fall for a couple months and Im going back to get some more....

Didn't have much time to work on smoker this weekend, as band had gigs, but we did manage to find time to finish framing the door. Couple pics here of that progress.

Unfortunately, that's all we were able to get done before heading off to do another show. Still, any progress is better than none!!

Don't know for sure how much I will get done on the smoker this coming weekend, as the band has a gig AND we're doing a competition on our FB page for free tickets to an upcoming show opening for a big artist, but I hope to try to get something done. DO have one questions.... pretty much everything  is 1/4", the tank, the FB will be...etc.. Can the RF baffle plate be slightly thinner without causing too much grief in the future. I got a sheet of metal...I believe 5/16 but not certain. Anyhow...the sheet is perfectly flat, and almost the perfect size to fit perfectly with only little trimming. If it won't make me regret it in the future, I'd like to use it. Any help is appreciated.
