Hello smoking meat nation
My name is Killer Q. I chose the name because I want to create the kind of smoked meats that you would kill to try. In order to do that I have to learn and ask questions from all my new friends in these smoking forums. I live in a small town in Missouri. I plan on building my smoker out of a 300 gallon propane tank on a trailer. Still in process of finding trailer. I read alot of your smoker builder forums and have watched lots of videos. Hope to come up with an amazing smoker. I'm not too sure the best buld technique to maintain a good constant temp in a 300 gallon propane tank smoker. So thats my first question best way to do that. I appreciate all the advice and look forward to learning new stuff and techniques. Thanks, Killa Q

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions Post it
and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is because their
are so many different ways to make great Q We all have our own taste.

Kewl , if it were mine I would lay it on its side and make it a reverse flow pit... I visit a lot of guys trailer rigs and taste their goodies here in the Louisville and southern Indiana area... I have seen a lot of DIY smokers, as much as I hate to say it most need a lot of work or just made from a bad set of plans or no plans at all...

do your homework and take your time and think things out fully.. as far as maintaining a good constant temp- you would need a good constant heat source,wood and charcoal will spike at times... Talk to some folks on here and ask them what their using,charcoal,wood or propane.. also ask them how much it costs them to run the type of fuel their using!!!

a lot of guys using just wood like to pan their pork at a set time,this is not to maintain moisture but to keep the meat from tasting like its been over smoked.. "to smoky believe it or not"... Most of the guys I see running charcoal are on the smaller rigs and cooking burgers,franks,chickens, and so-on... There is a few that run charcoal and wood but to me personally I think there would be a lot of temp spikes when the wood flamed up, so you would have to be careful adding it... I have seen a couple Propane rigs that look sweet.. one guys uses damp lump wood in a metal box with holes in the top for smoke, it works pretty dayum sweet.. another uses a piece of steel over his burners and lays the wood on top, he has a tall fire box on his rig.. it was smoking but I never got to try his Q out as he had just set up ...

like everyone said, use that search bar up there... some really good info within this site... Keep us posted bro..

Hey pig bark those are all great ideas need to decide my fuel source and if I want to try reverse flow. I will look on site to see how much each fuel source cost too run. Thx

South of you a ways between Springfield and Branson.  Do you hunt or fish at all?
