Bride and I were talkin' about the pears that we seem to throw out in the spring, 'cause they won't keep no longer...   I think Lady Katherine said something about pear relish on one of the threads....   Sooooooo...... Pear relish it is...  We grew the pears, bells and onions....

The recipe said, "GRIND".... So out comes the grinder... I think the holes are 3/8 or 7/16 on the Kitchener......

Worked good on the onions......  Spanish hot onions...

Worked good on the Bells......    Red and Green

Worked good on the Bartlett Pears..... Fruit fresh was used on the pears

while cutting and waiting on the grinder.....  I did save the juice....  I will try a

pear martini later....

In and out of the water bath canner...

The taste is good.....   A little hint of cinnamon that must come from the pears.....  The crunch is good..

The size of the chunks is good....     This taste test is from what was left in the pot after cooking and cooling...

Not from one of the W/B'ed jars....   Soooo......   the texture will probably change in the canned product.....

At least the pears won't go bad in the refer now.... These pears were on the small side compared to what you get

in the store.....

Modify this to your liking....  It's meek and mild... refreshing...

Enjoy......   Dave

Imagine that.....     Bride did put a few chopped up Jalapeno's in the open container that didn't make the Water Bath...   Spicy pear relish...  That is good also....

When I was a kiddo...we would put it on top of field peas, black eyed peas and the like.  I like it on Pork too.

Now....you have some Southern Goodness in your pantry!
