My son lives in Ohio and was checking CL there. Came across a listing for a Hobart 1612E Slicer for $175. Called the guy and found out he had 2 Hobart Slicers and would sell both for $300. He couldn't find a plate on the one so he's not sure which one it is, but who cares! So he bought both and he's shipping one to me! They are in good shape and work. Even if shipping is $150, it's still a great buy for me cause the cheapest I've found them on CL here in CO is about $800.

WOW What a deal.

You will love the way it slices.

For the price who could pass them up!
Congrats Alesia,
Looks like a real win-win for you and your son.
Same here - seems I've been looking for 2 yrs or so and nothing really decent under $800. Stay diligent, hopefully something soon for you.

Gee I hope so!!! Don't know when he's shipping it but I've got about 25 lbs of boneless pork loin to make your Ham!!! The slicer would come in handy then!
I have been getting by with my old ham slicer knife from my youth and it has been ok. I anxious to hear how you like your slicer. I may have to start saving my change.

Nice score. I could kick my self in the rear end for selling a similar Ivex model years ago. Now I'm looking for one again.

Ya know, you could go visit such a nice son, bring an ice chest from your freezer with last years left overs and save all that shipping freight. Plus know it won't get damaged in transit...... You could bring some of that loin ham and test the slicer, no sense bringing it back after being sliced in a test..... Weather will start getting bad soon.... good time during the fall too. ......Hmmmmmmm...........

Congrats on your slicer. Congrats on the son too!

Yes sir time to throw some bellies in the brine now!

Thank you!!! Ha ha...the kid has a smoker etc and made the same pork loin ham a couple weeks ago as well. When I go visit him, I fly there and it's usually after the first of the year (gotta get through hunting seasons). But your thinking is spot on!
