Native of Louisiana now living in North Alabama. This summer my wife had back surgery so I became the main chef around the house. I purchased a new Masterbuilt vertical box smoker and I am loving it but there is always room for improvement. I have tried a Boston butt, baby back ribs, leg quarters, & chicken wings so far. I also won igrill device on a Twitter contest this week so I am anxious to try it. certainly open to advice.

Welcome from Canada.

I only started smoking last year and had limited success until I found this forum. I suggest you decide what you want to try (butt, chicken, brisket, etc) and do a search with the search bar. You will get a ton of ideas and can choose the one you like.

Something else that helped me was posting pictures and descriptions of projects as I was doing it. I got a ton of advice and had my questions answered as I went along.

This is a great forum with kind members who share their experience.

Welcome to the forums!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! We do have a group for Alabama Members....I live in Madison!  We would love to have you join the group.  Hoping to plan a get together soon!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
