Trying my new AMNTS out on some spare ribs...

I received my AMNTS this week from Todd (TJohnson here) at A-Maze-N Products this week. Rob Green (Wingman here) at SmokingPit dot com had a drawing with two winners for tube smokers and two winners for Mad Hunky Rubs or Brine. I want to thank Todd and Rich at Mad Hunky for putting your products out there and Rob for the time you take with your site and videos. You guys ROCK!

I followed Todd’s instructions on prepping the tube before using and filled it with the hickory pellets that he provided. I picked up a short rack of pork spares and decided to try something different. After cleaning, patting dry and removing the membrane I first brushed Bone Sucking Sauce on them. I then sprinkled Weber’s Roasted Garlic & Herb seasoning and then finished off with TastyLicks BBQ Company Ribit Rub. Covered it in plastic wrap and put in the fridge for about a half hour while I got my Weber and the AMNTS going.

Put ribs on my Weber E310 at 275*

After about 3 hours I pulled the ribs, foiled with honey and

Bone Sucking Sauce and put back on the grill. As ribs go,

these things looked ugly! LOL

After an hour I unfoiled and put them back on, meat side down

for a half hour and then flipped them for another 15 minutes.

This was my 3rd attempt at spare ribs, first two tries sucked but

for under $6 I figured to try them again. They looked good but

I was not happy with the flavor, need to work on that…

and sauced...

Nice looking ribs. I use my 18" &12" AMNTS all the time in all my smokers and on the grill. They work great!

After using the 12" I am going to get the 6" one as well. My next purchase is going to be a Yoder YS640, hopefully next month.

The wife gave me the green light and her and my daughters said to get it so I shut the hell up!

I'll use the smaller on for shorter smokes. I let the 12" burn after I foiled and it burned for the entire time.

Another option is to load the 12" half full. I do that when doing shorter smokes.

Love mine...really helps fine tune the amount of smoke flavor in my Q...thinking of getting another for those longer smokes, so I'm not trying to reload a hot tube!
