I'm starting my build on my UDS. I scored a drum from my dads work he works at a state park and they have a ton if 55 gal barrels, it did not have a lid on it when I got it. I've drilled my holes at the bottom for vents, gonna install 3/4 ball valve and other 2 holes will be 3/4 capped steel nips. I'm burning the barrel out now, it had a brown paint on the outside and the inside was not painted but rusty. The outside paint has pretty much all melted off while burning, anything else I should be doing or do next? Thanks taylor.

Your off to a good start. Get it burned out.. and cleaned out once its cooled down. Gonna wanna remove any rust or ugly from the inside before adding hardware just for ease. Sand by hand or what ever it takes to get it all out.
.Im doing another uds for a friend that I had to burn out (my first I really didnt need to cause it was an unlined olive oil container with oil still in it.. ) but once I burned the one im doing now I took it to the car wash and power washed it. Once it was dry. I decided it was good enough to add all my hardware. . And season before any rust starts
