Nice buy Dave

We've got the 8512 which is the same slicer with the automatic slicing mechanism.  You'll find that it may take some hunting but all the parts are available.

I had to tear into ours to replace the worm gear in the slice adjust mechanism. While I had it apart I overhauled it and replaced all the wear items, rubber feet etc and cleaned out the gearboxes and put new lube in them.  I stalked Ebay for some time with a saved search and found a new SS German blade for about $70 with shipping.  We still have less than $400 in ours as I bought it non-running due to the slice adjust not working.

If you ever get into hard to slice stuff like hard dried beef or hard air dried sausages you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.  You'll maybe find yourself making more things like bread and butter pickles, long sliced pickles for sandwiches and sauerkraut more often.  That slicer of yours will talk to you in the quiet hours and fill your head with all manner of ideas on things to slice....

Good luck with it.

Lance Thanks. I don't need any parts now. I have looked and I have found lots of parts if I ever need any.

It sounds like you got a good deal.

Happy smoken
Thanks,

We going to sell this one to buy something lighter and shorter.  The auto slicing feature adds a good 20# and 2-1/2" in height to the thing.  We don't ever intend to use the auto slice so off it goes....

Given what I'm seeing used ones sell for in this area (especially with the refurb and new blade) I should clear enough for another used slicer and a bigger stuffer.  I passed on a 30# hydraulic stuffer a few months back.  Nancy didn't want to give up that much pantry floor space.  Maybe a 15# electric one?

nice find, I just picked up a General 10in with sharpener, same thing bad feet. He wanted 125 asked him his best price and he said 80 and even met me in town to give it to me. The feet holes were stripped so had to adapt it some. But it works great. Better then the 130.00 for the plastic Cabela's one i looked at.

thanks everyone. I just did a batch of bacon last week. I need to find something to slice.

Happy smoken.

David
My major duties for my slicer are.......

After being in storage for the past few years is to take it the next door neighbour and slice the Summer Sausage, his friend at work gets for him, from the Mennonite community around St Jacobs Ontario.  We have a hoot doing this.  He also is going to get a Beef roast, again, sourcing it from people he works with, and have me make Jerky for him to take back up to where he works.  We are both thinking business possibilities exist here.
