I know, weird... I guess it's from eating to much freezer burned crap as a kid. I know the meat I buy has been frozen at the butcher... But I just don't refreeze meat :)
All of my beef is grass finished or it has had very little grain very differant than what you buy in the store, I used to raise all my chickens and process then ,sell eggs ,pastured raised turkey but I haven't done none of that in several years now.

No, if I'm there, I'm buyin rub and wood! I was in there this past Friday and met some dude buying rubs, gave him a recommendation, he took it as he'd planned on smokin this past Saturday. Mentioned the forum, he said he was on it all the time...

Interesting, I wonder how many people from Charlotte are on here. I've been buying my wood at the Academy sports around the corner from the mall, they have a better selection, and the prices are lower as well, and they have some rubs in there as too.

Really? I will be checking it out for sure (they got any pecan? Do you know?)

They do have pecan, I was in there again last night since I wanted to browse stuff before I went to the carolina ale house right there, and they still have plenty of wood, not sure if you want chips, chunks, or mini logs... but they have a great selection. The shelves are pretty tall too, so don't forget to look up and see what might be lurking above.

I was surprised when traveling thru Georgia and North Carolina that I did not find much wood offered at the stores. I was guessing it was because there was so many woods around you guys you didn't need to buy any, just pick it up. Basically what I do here in Florida. Plenty of Oak, Pecan and Cherry to be had, along with some Fruit woods.

It's easiest to find during the summer months, but I've not seen many wood splits anywhere except for Academy Sports and Bass Pro, but you can find chips and chunks all over the place. I just scored a bunch of wood from someone on Craigslist this evening, got some hickory, oak, and cherry for cheap!

Got the up high thing covered!

I think I just bought a years' worth of pecan and pretty sure I found my next toy... Anyone got 4k I can borrow?
