Hello all just joined from Central, IL just north of Springfield.  I have a MES40 first smoker i have ever owned.  I really enjoy smoking and now its become a personal challenge to get better as my buddy has told me that i cant smoke food as good as another one of our friends because "you dont have a good pellet smoker, if you want to smoke good food you have to spend $900+ and get a good pellet smoker"  HAHA im just working on practicing smoking so that i can get things fine tuned and make him eat his words.  I have only smoked a couple things and it appears that apple wood seems to be my favorite.  Have done some searching and im interested in the AMNPS but confused on if that replaces the factory chip tray within the smoker or if you have to make a box for it to sit on the outside of the smoker.  Also any mods that need to be done to the MES40?  I know for sure i want to build some sort of cart for it.

I have a MES40 and I put my AMNPS on the bottom righ on top of the rails. I remove the

chip tray and pull the chip loader out about 1 inch. i works great. I would say buy one.

Happy smoken.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

Also check out ”Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course”, it will teach you bunches no matter your experience level!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per Jeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Welcome aboard, Jeremy!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask when you need help and someone here will have the answer.  Good advice from David on the AMNPS and the MES...they're a match made in heaven for sure.
